National Biodiesel Board Launches YouTube Channel
Videos provide credible information, news coverage and other educational resources

JEFFERSON CITY, MO. – It’s been called the MTV of this generation. Now YouTube, the number one Web site for online video sharing, is home to a comprehensive source of biodiesel videos and news. People searching for biodiesel information will be able to find credible, helpful and entertaining videos on the new National Biodiesel Board YouTube Channel.

A staggering 70 million people worldwide visit YouTube each month. Social media sites have become wildly popular in recent years. Increasingly more people are turning to the Internet for information than any other media source – including television and newspapers. The www.YouTube.com/NationalBiodiesel page is part of a larger NBB social marketing effort.

“Sites like YouTube and Facebook are more than just fun and games today,” said NBB Director of Communications Jenna Higgins. “They drive public awareness, public opinion and mainstream media coverage. We want to have a voice in this forum and ensure that an opportunity to learn about the benefits of biodiesel is reaching the people who seek it.”

The NBB first unveiled the channel at last week’s National Biodiesel Conference and Expo in San Francisco. Videos from the conference that have been posted include a San Francisco Road Trip, highlighting the many biodiesel users in the host city, and videos featuring industry leaders talking about sustainability and other key issues. Singer Melissa Etheridge addressed the conference attendees, and her inspirational remarks are also available. Additional conference videos will be posted in coming days.

Biodiesel fans can become subscribers to the channel. YouTube will notify subscribers whenever new videos are posted, and they can also comment on them and share them with friends.

Biodiesel is the clean burning alternative to diesel fuel that can be domestically produced from renewable resources. Blends such as B20 can be used in any diesel engine without modification.

Based in Jefferson City, Mo., NBB, is the national trade association of the biodiesel industry. Last years’ 700 million gallon production of this fuel reduced greenhouse gas emissions the equivalent of removing 980,000 vehicles from U.S. roads.
