SCIENTISTS DECLARATION ON BIODIESEL
PROTOCOLS & SAFEGUARDS


Voluntary
  • Agreeing to be listed as a signatory to the declaration, "Scientists Declaration on Biodiesel," is voluntary.
  • There are no "membership" eligibility requirements. Criteria include an interest in supporting biodiesel, a scientific background, support for the principles in the declaration, and respecting the protective safeguards as described below.
  • Any request by a signatory to the declaration that his or her name be dropped from the signatory list will be promptly honored.
Protective Safeguards
  • Protective limitations as stated are intended to ensure the autonomy of declaration signatories, to ensure that the declaration initiative and those supporting the declaration remain credible and to ensure that the declaration functions within its stated, limited purpose.
  • No action is to be taken or statement made in the name of "Scientists Declaration on Biodiesel" or any of its signatories, or by the National Biodiesel Board (NBB) or any of its agents. [1]
  • Agreeing to be listed as a signatory to the declaration does not constitute or imply endorsement of the signatory or the signatory's organization by the NBB, of any declaration signatory’s views, products, services or actions.
  • NBB reserves the right to drop any signatory from the declaration. Any signatory found to abuse the protective safeguards will be dropped from the list of signatories.
Privacy Policy, Contact Information
  • The Email address provided when signing on to the declaration will ONLY be used as indicated under "Limited Communications" below, or to facilitate dialog and information sharing among scientists supporting biodiesel. NO Email address or other contact information will be sold, rented or otherwise made available to commercial entities.
  • The list of signatories to the declaration is publicly available.
    • Signatories' names, titles and affiliation are recognized on the NBB's web site.
    • The list of signatories may be made available to interested parties to demonstrate widespread, diverse support for sustainable biodiesel.
    • The NBB may provide special recognition and publicity about new signatories.
    • No other contact information related to the signatories is publicly available.
  • The NBB may otherwise elect to publicly characterize aggregate information about the declaration and signatories, such as total membership and geographic distribution.
Limited Communications
  • Signatories are given the option of subscribing to NBB’s Biodiesel Bulletin, a free monthly newsletter.
  • Signatories may also on occasion receive concise alerts containing new and timely information on scientific and other developments concerning biodiesel that may be of interest.
